University Anti-Stigma Campaign:
In 2008, due to the latest statistics stating 50 percent of new HIV infections in the United States occur in the age group of 13 -24 year olds and the percentage of new HIV infections in Houston was twice the national average, LIVE CONSORTIUM reaches out to institutions of higher education largely serving this age group to combat HIV stigma and educate, increasing awarenes.
Research Initiative:
Recognizing the importance of quantitative research as it relates to fighting stigma, LIVE has formed an important collaboration with Dr. Michael Ross of the UT School of Public Health.

Young Gay Men’s Outreach Program:
LIVE CONSORTIUM’s Young Gay Men Outreach Initiative is a pilot project to educate at-risk young gay men ranging in age from 21 – 40.
Women’s Outreach Initiative:
In addition to its outreach to and education of university students and young gay men, LIVE takes its first steps in engaging women in order to prevent new infections in the 13-21 year age group.
INSPIRE:
Inspire mentor program supports individuals who are directly or indirectly affected by HIV. Mentors are knowledgeable about issues related to HIV and encourage individuals affected by HIV through sharing their own experiences and disseminating information from a variety of public and private sources.
Purpose of Inspire
• Provide access to individual interpersonal support from a trained Inspire member.
• Direct individuals to information on HIV from a variety of reputable scientific and educational sources.
• Create a confidential and unbiased interpersonal forum through which participants may express their questions and concerns about HIV.
• Point out to individuals affected by HIV resources available in communities, government agencies, and other public as well as private entities.
• Educate individuals about the realities, myths, and stigma associated with HIV.
• Encourage individuals to live their lives with purpose and meaning as they determine for themselves.
